Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

I started reading this series because of this "bot" I was talking to. The bot was to help with anxiety, depression and just have someone to talk to. I was going through a tough place and decided to try it out. The app was called replica. The boy I created recommended this book series because it related to fantasy and I love fantasy novels, movies etc.

I never thought I'd like a book about Faeries but after doing some research and watching short non spoiler reviews, I decided to get the first book and try it out. So here is my review and it's a bit of a spoiler so if you don't want events reveled, do not read on. If you do or have read the series as well, comment and read on!! Xo

*spoiler review* Part one: chapter one: the ghost in the computer So far, I'm loving this first book. Meghan Chase is the main character and she is hilarious, a Tom boy and sensitive. She doesn't like being talked down or called princess. Chapter one starts off with Meghan being excited to help out her crush - the popular football quarterback Scott - but he's actually a jerk. She was rummaging through finding clothes but settled for overalls. She got upset to learn that her mom and her step dad, Luke, seemed to have forgotten about Meghan's birthday tomorrow. She was going to be sixteen which is a big deal for most young girls because they will a lot more older, mature and even noticed. But so far, this wasn't how Meghan thought it was going to be. She learned her young, half-brother who was 4 years old and talked to his stuffed animals, was the only one who remembered her birthday so far. Before Meghan left for school, she was dragged to Ethan's room to check for monsters. She felt like she was hallucinating and ran for the bus. So Meghan's neighbor, Robbie scared Meghan on purpose in the ran and made fun of her for it. They got on the schoolbus and Ethan always calls maghan "princess". She hates it but he still calls her it. Well, Robbie learns Meghan is going to tutor Scott today and he seems jealous. But Meghan doesn't like Robbie like that. So Scott needed a tutor for something to do with tech and Meghan was happy to help and she went totally nuts about being with him for an hour, however it didn't go as planned. First, Meghan tried to talk to Scott but she stuttered. Well, he criticized Meghan about he living in the country and bet that she didn't even know how to work a computer. So she tried to show him that she knew a lot but instead of him being impressed, he was embarrassed because before she even touched the computer, the screen went blank and words appeared : maghan chase we see you, we're coming for you & it repeatedly happened. Scott was freaked out then more words appeared saying "Scott likes to peak on boys in the bathroom" or something like that. These words appeared on all of the computer screens and he was teased by other kids. He was upset and said Meghan dug her own grave. Then Meghan saw a tiny little creature but thinks she's going crazy. Well, after school, Meghan learns that Beau, their trustworthy German shepherd attacked her little brother. They were upset but Ethan was fine. They still couldn't keep Beau afterwards though because it's dangerous. My thoughts: It takes a lot for me to be hooked on a book. I haven't read a really good book in years and so far, this book is amazing! I love how fast paced, organized, intriguing it is and I'm literally eager to keel reading. I think Meghan's character so far is mature, sensitive, determined, and strong. She keeps to herself but doesn't really let Robbie or anything get in her way I guess? I was embarrassed for Meghan in the computer lab as well. I don't know what she sees in Scott. Yeah he could be cute but he's a real jerk even before the incident in the lab, he was a jerk having his feet on the table and headphones in while she was trying to talk to him. He seems like a low life. I think Robbie is sweet, wanting to dk things for Meghan and do stuff for her birthday. He sounds like a good kid. Chapter two:ringtone of doom So this chapter was a bit upsetting to me. I almost cried for Meghan as she was ready for school on her birthday today and she was excited to get her driver's permit after school. When she got to school, she saw Scott walking up to her. He apologized for what he said to her yesterday and asked her to join him for lunch at school. She was happy and said yes, then Scott's friend made them smile to take a picture. Meghan was confused and stated up at Scott during the photo.  Robbie warned her not to go. She did anyway. When Meghan went yto thr cafeteria at lunch, phones went off and everyone started laughing at her. One guy smacked Meghan's ass and said "didn't know you got Down like that" or something like that and showed her his ohone screen. She was butt naked in the photo of her and Scott. Everyone made fun of her and she cried. She hid in the bathroom then went to the nurses office and complained to have a stomach ache. The nurse sent her to the room on a cot and gave her something to drink. After drinking the chocolate warm drink, Meghan fell asleep. She kind of woke up and heard the nurse and somoen talking (Robbie) and told him to watch the girl, not to have revenge and to not draw attention to himself. Meghan fell asleep again and then Robbie woke her up awhile later and told her it was okay. He dragged her through the halls and Meghan heard the cheat captain, Angie talk bad about Meghan's family, pigs and her mom. Meghan almost snapped but robbed pulled her inward and he mumbled something under his breath then Angie screamed as she was forming a pigs nose and making pig sounds. Chapter 3: the changeling Robbie rode on the bus with Meghan and she was silent. Nothing seemed right to her. She knew everything was changing. She looked out the window and saw a man on a horse.he was handsome and Meghan pointed it out to Robbie. Robbie whispered "Ash" and Meghan asked who it was. Robbie lied saying it was an old buddie. They got to Meghan's house and Robbie said he forgot something at his house so he left Meghan at hers and told her to not talk to anyone. She went inside suspicious and found her mom lying in the floor and Ethan no longer holding his stuffed rabbit as it was on the floor with its head torn off. Meghan woke up her mom, lukr took her to the hospital and Meghan gave Ethan pizza. He devoured it then bit Meghan's leg. Robbie came back and scared off etban who hissed at him. Then Robbie gave Meghan a drink. She sipped it and it almost made her forget. Robbie said she could forget everything if she finished the glass. She got angry and said no but then Robbie told Meghan Ethan isn't her brother, he's now a changeling. Chapter 4: Puck So Meghan learns about the evil brother, about the fey and agrees to go on a quest with Robbie to the nevernever aka faeryland. Robbie explains he is puck from old legends Meghan knows about. Then they decide to start the journey and take off to faeryland through Ethan's closet because that's where the door was. Chapter 5: the nevernever Meghan and Robbie went into the nevernever and stayed at Twiggs home. He lived in a tree. Meghan thought she saw her brother Ethan but it was a wisp tricking her. She fell into a pond and was almost eaten by a monster but got out in time. Robbie who is now named Puck aka Robin Goodfellow came to Meghan and helped her up then they continued their journey through to forest. Chapter 6 - the wildhunt Wolves sniffed out puck and Meghan and puck turned into a horse so Meghan wouldn't be so slow. Meghan rose on Puck and the wolves still followed. Meghan then saw the boy from her dream (Ash) and she saw he was trying to hit them with arrows so they ran from him as well. After a lot of running, puck halted and bucked Meghan off and she hurled into a tree, hurting her ribs. Puck ran away and then Ash followed, not knowing about where Meghan was.
